Oscar Remembered

Oscar Remembered by Renee Taylor and Joseph Bologna presented in March 2011 by GRRC

by Maxim Mazumdar

Directed by Michael H. Arve
Presented in September 2009 by GRRC

Starring Kevin J. Indovino as Lord Alfred Douglas

Ever since I first saw this intriguing script being performed by the author Maxim Mazumdar on an A&E special some twenty or so years ago, I wanted to mount a production of it. It captivated me. Unfortunately we lost Mr. Mazumdar to AIDS a few years ago, but his work lives on.

Personally, I really enjoy working on mono-dramas. I also love working on them when they are based on real people. I have been fortunate to have been able to direct three of them. Tonight’s performance, Almighty God Bierce, which chronicled the life of the noted curmudgeon and wit, the author of The Devil’s Dictionary and was written by and starred local playwright and actor, Ed. Scutt, and William Luce’s brilliant The Belle of Amherst about America’s most beloved poet, Emily Dickinson.

The process of working with these three very accomplished actors on portraying three very different but fascinating people, gave me great pleasure.
